The craziness of the past few weeks caught up with me and I crashed hard yesterday. Fortunately, I'm feeling much better after 10 hours of Ambien-assisted sleep, but I'm still out of it enough to be glad that I'm not going to the gym today. I'm going to lounge around in bed with the laptop and coffee for another hour before getting up and about.
The big news is this part of the world is that my BFF is coming out here for a visit in two weeks! Going to see The Hunger Games will be a big part of the weekend, but there will also be a lot of lounging around and relaxing. To put it bluntly, her job makes mine look stress-free by comparison. Plus, things have been a bit dicey for her in her personal life. We'll get caught up on the episodes of SPN she's missed, and she has expressed interest in Sherlock (rubs hands together gleefully). She's also looking forward to a visit to my local yarn shop, and if the weather's nice, we'll hit the Zoo and/or botanical gardens.
Today, once the weather warms up a bit (mid-sixties! yes!), I'll be going out to work on some pruning/cleanup. I'd rather rest (still feeing a bit fibro-battered) but things are starting to bud, and I can't leave it any later. Also I need to feed the irises, now that I'm thinking about it.
Monday, Contractor #2 comes out to take a look at things to put together a bid on the work I need to have done. Right now, based on phone contact alone, I'm leaning heavily towards contractor #1. C#2 is coming across as a wee bit flaky (we have rescheduled twice, and I had to hear the details of why each time, which...no), although apparently his work is good. Plus, C#1 has done work in my neighborhood, and is very aware of the peculiarities in the houses here.
On the writing front, I have actually made very good progress on the next chapter of Winter War (it took me a while to find my rhythm) and have finished three chapters of the Sherlock/Lie to Me crossover. I'm also still poking at the original story, mostly writing unconnected scenes to try to get a sense for the character's voices and personalities, and getting my head around what these ladies want. Part of that is what figuring out what they know they want, what they think they want, and what they won't admit they want. I'm also having to do a lot of planning and groundwork, mostly to do with figuring out how the story is structured/told.
