Grabbed this, ran with it. Too short! I couldn't shoehorn in Charlotte Armstrong and Kingsolver! And I'm ashamed to note there are no writers or poets of color on my list. Hughes almost made it.

Perils of more decades of reading, I suppose, the earlier influences take precedence.
