Why I need beta readers

I was re-reading copy before sending it off to a beta reader, and I just realized that I referred to a sound as 'invisible.'

Heh. True, that. Anyhow, this certainly demonstrates the value of letting one's work sit for a few days before doing the edit pass. I don't think I would have noticed it if I'd read through it right after writing it--my brain would still be primed to read what I meant, not what I said.
